Pachón, 2016
Cape of hand-knotted palm fronds. Purchased in Mexico City´s Historic Center
CHAT: Until the 1960s, this woven short cloak made of palm leaf strips was worn by indigenous people throughout Mexico as protection from the rain and has prehispanic origins. Today plastic sheets are used as raincover, but the palm cloth is still being made by hand for its contemporary use to repair palapa roofs.
