Capital Campaign 2024
Preserving the Past - Building the Future
IN 2020, MUREM was given the legacy gift of a permanent location by Denis Larsen. Now in 2024, we are embarking on a capital campaign to renovate on-site housing in order to further fulfill our mission to share the unique stories of Mexico through collecting, conserving, and presenting indigenous, traditional, and contemporary ethnic clothing and expanding our relationships with textile artisans.
Our goal is to raise $350,000 Mexican Pesos to convert the Casita Maya, currently a rustic building on the property, into a comfortable living space for short-term stays. The renovated Casita will help us achieve our goal of sustainability by eliminating outside housing costs for service-related teachers, other experts, and donors working in collaboration with the museum. When not in use for museum programs, the Casita will generate much-needed income by serving as an overnight rental property for visitors to Valladolid.
We are excited to share that we are launching the campaign with more than $150,000 Mexican Pesos already pledged to this project. Through these gifts, our donors demonstrate their belief in the value of MUREM and its future in Valladolid. They hope that their philanthropy will inspire others to also contribute.
Thanks to these patrons' committed donations, MUREM moves closer to being self-sufficient, an important step that will benefit the community and visitors from around the world. We invite you to join us in support of this important project.
The Museo de Ropa Étnica de México A.C., established July 1, 2018, RFC MRE180605CV8, is a non-profit organization and an Authorized Donee with tax deductions available in Mexico and participating countries.
Gifts of any amount are essential to the success of this important project and greatly appreciated. Your donation is welcome as a one-time contribution or a pledge of monthly giving over the course of the year.
To make a pledge or discuss various giving options, please contact Tey Mariana Stiteler, the museum´s founder and director, at
+52 985-113-6334 or teymarianastiteler@murem.org. Contributions may be delivered in person to the museum located in front of San Juan Park at Calle 49 No. 202A between Calles 40 and 42, Colonia San Juan, 97780, Valladolid, Yucatán, México. Due to banking restrictions, we cannot accept donations by check from banks outside of Mexico and do not recommend mailing gifts of cash to the museum.
Stay in the Casita Maya
A free two-night stay in the completed museum’s Casita Maya will be offered to Capital Donors who make a commitment of $5,000 pesos or more within the first nine months of the Campaign. This stay is transferable and based on availability of the Casita. It will be reserved directly through the museum and can be used through December 31, 2025.
Capital Campaign donors who contribute $500 pesos or more will be entered into three drawings for a free two-night stay at the Casita Maya. Drawings will take place on May 31, August 31, and October 31, 2024. (Winners from the May and August drawings will be eliminated from the jackpot.)
Stay tuned for updates and events celebrating our community’s investments in the future of MUREM.
Thank you for helping us preserve the past by building for the future.
